To be honest there is not much to do in Dusseldorf and it goes without saying that you will find beer and proteins at every corner. But if you have a couple of hours to spare have a walk around the Medienhafen, the new part of the harbor designed by Alsop Architects and Frank Gehry which well coexists with the post war/industrial vibe of the city .
